Wakaranai Lodge as Basecamp
Wakaranai Lodge provides the perfect basecamp for extended fly fishing trips. Located in Tomamu, Hokkaido, the Lodge offers quiet, comfortable accommodation with proximity to multiple world-class fly fishing rivers.
The Lodge sits in a peaceful environment where you can rest and recharge between days on the water. Shared spaces allow for gear preparation, meals, and conversation with fellow anglers.
After long days on the river, you return to a warm, welcoming space where you can relax, share stories, and prepare for the next day's fishing. The Lodge becomes your home base for the duration of your trip, eliminating the need to pack and unpack each day.
Trip Details
Trip length: 3 to 5 days. Each trip is tailored to the season, conditions, and the rivers we'll be fishing. Raven Outdoors brings deep knowledge of Hokkaido's fly fishing opportunities, ensuring you experience the best the region has to offer.
Days are structured around fishing, with early mornings, full days on the water, and evenings back at the Lodge for meals and rest. We choose zones based on water levels, weather, and conditions. The flexibility to move between rivers is what makes Central Hokkaido fly fishing special.
All transportation to and from fishing locations is included, so you can focus entirely on the experience. Whether we're fishing the Sorachi, Mu, Tokachi, Chūbetsu, or other Central Hokkaido rivers, the logistics are handled.

Raven Outdoors specializes in fly fishing and backcountry ski guiding in Central Hokkaido. Ryota grew up exploring the forest, rivers, and mountains of the Furano area, and as he grew up, his range expanded to all of Central Hokkaido. Chasing the best snow, steepest lines, and biggest fish, all while immersing himself fully in nature.
With extensive experience in the region's rivers and mountains, Raven Outdoors offers expert guidance for experienced anglers. This is fly-only guiding for people who care about the fishing itself: reading water, moving thoughtfully, and making the most of conditions.
The approach combines technical expertise with deep respect for the environment and the craft of fly fishing. We guide on wild trout and char rivers throughout Central Hokkaido, using local knowledge to choose zones based on real-time conditions, not just what's famous.
