Central Hokkaido: Furano, Asahidake, Tokachidake & Beyond
Central Hokkaido: Furano, Asahidake, Tokachidake & beyond, a base that keeps your options open. Central Hokkaido backcountry skiing offers more spread, more choice, and more quiet than the more obvious destinations.
We guide backcountry skiing and fly fishing throughout Central Hokkaido, using our local knowledge to choose zones based on conditions, not just what's famous. This is where you go when you want the real Hokkaido experience.
Why Central Hokkaido, Not Niseko
Most people only hear "Hokkaido = Niseko." Central Hokkaido is different: more spread, more choice, more quiet. If you're looking for the Hokkaido experience without the crowds, this is where you go.
Central Hokkaido backcountry skiing means fewer skin track lines, more space to actually move, and terrain that doesn't see the same pressure. We guide here because it's where we live, and it's where the real experience happens.
Zones We Guide
Furano Area
Our home base. Furano backcountry skiing offers diverse terrain, good access, and the flexibility to move based on conditions. This is where we start most trips, and it's where our local knowledge runs deepest.
Asahidake / Daisetsuzan Region
Volcanic alpine terrain with serious elevation. Asahidake backcountry guide services here mean access to high-altitude zones that require experience and good decision-making. Daisetsuzan backcountry skiing offers some of the most dramatic terrain in Central Hokkaido.
Tokachidake Area
Tokachidake ski touring gives you access to volcanic terrain with varied aspects and conditions. This zone requires local knowledge to navigate safely and find the best skiing.
Tomamu Area
Tomamu backcountry skiing offers good access and diverse terrain options. This zone works well when conditions align, and it's part of the Central Hokkaido network we use to find the best skiing.
Sahoro Area
Another option in the Central Hokkaido network. Sahoro offers different aspects and conditions, giving us flexibility when planning trips based on weather and snow.
How We Choose Zones
We pick zones based on conditions and fit, not on "the one famous spot." Weather, snow quality, access, and what kind of day you want all factor into where we go. Having options across Central Hokkaido means we can make good decisions instead of forcing a plan.
This flexibility is what makes Central Hokkaido special. You're not locked into one zone or one plan. We use our local knowledge to find the best conditions, whether that's alpine objectives, tree skiing, or something in between.
Backcountry Skiing and Fly Fishing
Central Hokkaido works for both seasons. In winter, we guide backcountry skiing across these zones. In summer, we guide fly fishing in the rivers and streams throughout Central Hokkaido. The same local knowledge and flexibility apply to both.
Whether you're here for Central Hokkaido backcountry skiing or fly fishing, the principle is the same: we use local knowledge to find the best conditions, not just the most famous spots.
